Complications are what we call things on watches that are separate from the normal time display. Chronograph, date, flyback, alarm—the list goes on. Horology is essentially based on these. Accurately displaying the time is one virtue, and adding complications is another. Considering the ever-evolving world of watches, accuracy in movements is increasing, and various complications are also entering our lives. So, how does the concept of complications relate to the Vacheron Constantin brand?
Vacheron Constantin is the company that makes the watch with the most complications. This is where the story begins. Vacheron has existed for many years to demonstrate its power and establish itself in horology. This watch, from the company that has established itself in the horological history, can actually be considered a completely different milestone in horology. Previously, it had 57 (yes, FIFTY-SEVEN) watches with complications. However, they were so prepared for Watches & Wonders that they decided that 57 wasn't enough; let's make a watch with 63 (yes, SIXTY-THREE) complications. The reason these watches were created was a collector. These two watches were produced upon a collector's order. While the story originated with a commission, we can also say that Vacheron made this watch specifically for its 2th anniversary.
A dedicated team was formed for the Vacheron Constantin 57260. The team consisted of three people. It took 3 years for the three to produce the 3, with one year dedicated solely to assembly. Just imagine the craftsmanship and process behind it. If you look closely at the reference number, you can identify the watch.

These two watches are considered the most complex watches in the world. Of course, it's technically impossible to achieve this in a wristwatch. That's why they make it as a pocket watch. The 63 model had different complications than the 5720 model. The most difficult and impressive of these was the Chinese perpetual calendar. There was no need to adjust the calendar until the year 2200. They succeeded after trying many techniques to achieve this and display it accurately. I don't have enough characters to describe all the complications. But one of the most distinctive features is the zodiac symbols, which you can see in the attachment. You can see the silhouettes of the zodiac signs for the current year on the watch. It has a hand-wound mechanism and is made of 18-karat gold. This is one of the factors that increases its value after the complications. My love for the Vacheron brand is always special. Especially the rose gold one. Overseas I would choose this model over many other watches 😍
